Landon Wolf named Tulsa MET HS Teacher of the Year

Landon Wolf has been selected as the 2024-2025 Tulsa MET High School Teacher of the Year!

Landon joined the team at Tulsa MET two years ago as the internships coordinator. We asked Landon a few questions to learn more about him and his time at Tulsa Public Schools.

What does your job entail?

I support students in preparing for internships by helping with resume building, interview prep, and reaching out to businesses that match their interests. When I’m not working directly with students, I connect with local businesses and community organizations to explore internship hosting opportunities and other potential collaborations with our school. In my role as internships coordinator, I also plan and implement events that allow high school students to engage with career professionals, giving them real-world exposure tailored to the unique needs of Tulsa students.

Why did you want to work in education?

I never set out to work in education, but I knew that I wanted to work with Tulsa youth and families in some way. Reflecting on the challenges I had during my secondary schooling, during my time in college, I created a series of events that helped Tulsa area high school students explore post-secondary pathways and connect with local professionals in support of building their professional network, which directly aligns with the work I do now. I believe exposure and awareness of possibilities relating to potential routes as a young adult is extremely valuable, which makes my role as internship coordinator a fulfilling one!

Can you tell me a bit about your time at TPS?

My time with TPS has been extremely rewarding. Serving students that I can relate to and that can relate to me, being a Tulsa native and TPS graduate, I embrace the responsibility to connect and lead students from a place of experiential understanding. Building relationships with my students and the adults in the building has been fulfilling—the better I get to know them, the clearer I'm able to see them and see myself, allowing me to show up in the ways my students need most.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I find it important to serve my community in various ways. Lending my time and energy to different projects is a part of my weekly schedule. After school hours, I find ways to support student-athletes, support community led initiatives, and contribute to after-school programs that excite students.
